Laura Elletson, ’91 MA-IR, has been the HR Director at Barr Engineering Co., an environmental engineering consulting firm, for eight years. She automates and builds HR capabilities, including assessment, leadership development, internal coaching and role transition strategies as well as implementation of a new HRIS system and the opening of their first international office in Canada, while the company doubled in size. Sh…e recently began participating in the development of a coaches’ competency profile for 200+ internal coaches, who coach co-workers on career growth. With regards to her alma mater, Laura says “I joined the CHRLS Alumni Board mentoring committee this year and have been so impressed by other alumni and by the students who participate in the events!” Laura travels to New York for an EFCG (Environmental and Financial Consulting Group) industry conference every other year.” She also joined other certified Hudson Institute Coaches in Santa Barbara, CA for continuing education on best practices in professional coaching including internal program development. Laura will also be traveling to the South Pacific this year as a guest at a recognition conference for financial advisors. Laura has twins who are seniors in high school and in the final stages of selecting colleges. In her free time, Laura participates in a music ensemble and waterskies when ice is off the lakes.
